Liberal Shuts Out Haysville

Liberal finishes 1-5 and against Haysville this season.  But at least it wasn’t 0-6.  The Bee Jays put it all together in a 5-0 win over the visiting Aviators Sunday night in front of a big Brent Gould Field crowd.  Liberal pitched their fourth shutout of the second half schedule.

Liberal scored four in the first inning against the Aviators.  After Marc Mumper and Kyle Knauth singled, Cale O’Donnell line a sacrifice fly to right.  Blake Brewster slashed a triple to right center to score a run.  Brady Cox and Donny Ortiz both singled home runs for a four run first.  Ortiz lined a sac fly to right to score Cox in the fifth.  Francis Ventura pitched four strong innings before Lee Busto went three innings and JB Olson closed it out with a scoreless ninth.

Liberal and Haysville are 7-5 and are tied with Dodge City while trailing first place 8-4 Hays.  Liberal hosts Derby Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights at 7 with the Dugout Show at 6:45 on1270 and  Yancey Insurance is Monday night’s buyout sponsor.
