The Liberal 4th of July Committee will host the Annual 4th of July Celebration on Saturday, July 4th. The festivities will begin with a Downtown Parade that will begin with a line-up at 9:00 am at Trail Street and Kansas Avenue. The Parade will move north on Kansas Avenue at 10:00 am to Light Park. Prizes will be awarded for, The Grand Champion, The Best Performing Float, The Most Patriotic Float, The Most Original Float, The Best Vehicle, and The Best Children’s Float.

The festivities will then begin in Light Park. There will be games, music, food, and several vendors throughout the park. At 11:00 am, the Liberal Municipal Concert Band will perform, as will the Rec Center Dancers at 12:30. There will also be a Little Miss Firecracker competition at 2:00 pm sponsored by the Flower Coop and Marie May Events, followed by a watermelon Eating Contest.

Later that evening, the Liberal Bee Jays will take on the Dodge City A’s at Brent Gould Field with a public display of fireworks following the game. Fireworks sponsored by the City of Liberal and Community Bank.
