Lady Red Finish Strongly in Win Over Lady Dogs

The Liberal Lady Redskins out scored the Hooker Lady Dogs 21-9 in the fourth quarter in a 57-47 win Tuesday night in the Big House.  Liberal overcame foul trouble and a free throw disparity to improve to 11-2 on the season.

Hooker and Liberal were tied 10-10 after one quarter.  Hooker took a 17-10 lead in the second quarter.  The Lady Red rallied to lead 22-19 but the Lady Dogs led 24-22 at halftime.  Hooker claimed third quarter leads of 30-25 and 32-27.  It was 38-36 Hooker after three.  The Lady Red used a 21-5 run to begin the fourth quarter and grab a 57-43 lead with 22 seconds left.

Liberal won despite Hooker shooting 26 free throws to Liberal’s nine.  LHS was 8-9 and Hooker was 15-26.  Hooker shot 47 percent from the field and 2-6 from three and Liberal shot 46 percent from the field and 7-17 from three.  Liberal out-rebounded Hooker 23-12.

Hailey Contreras picked up four fouls in the first half and sat the third quarter but still scored 16.

Rylie Hallman had 11 points and five rebounds.  Hallie West had eight rebounds.  Mady Swayze scored 21 in the loss.

Liberal is 11-2 and Hooker is 14-6.  Liberal plays at Great Bend Friday night at 6pm with Redskin Pre-game at 5:45 on 1270 and 92.3.  Hooker hosts Forgan Friday.  The Lady Red will be featured during the Southern Pioneer Electric Rowdy Crowd Show Thursday night at 5:30 on 1270 and 92.3.
