Zayden Martinez is Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week

Liberal junior baseball player and track athlete Zayden Martinez is Hay Rice and Associates Athlete of the Week.  In Thursday night in the Liberal Invitational track meet, Martinez won the 200 in 23.43 and finished third in the high jump at 6′ in his first track meet in four years.  Friday, Martinez pitched two innings while striking out five for a save in the Liberal baseball team’s 7-4 win over Great Bend at the National Beef Sports Complex.  Martinez is batting .389 with a double, two triples, nine RBI’s, and eight runs.  On the mound, Martinez has pitched three times with 15 strikeouts and five walks.  Martinez is also involved in football, basketball, powerlifting, and FCA.  Martinez and the Redskin baseball team host Dodge City Wednesday night at about 6pm on 1270 and 92.3.  He will compete in the 100, 200, and high jump at the Glenn Cunningham Relays at Elkhart Thursday.
