The Seward County Historical Society will be hosting, “Burgers and Broomcorn,” 6:30 pm Saturday August 22nd on the Coronado Museum grounds.

Liberal once sought to be the “Broomcorn Capital of the World,” but there is far more to this hardy crop’s history than you may expect. Join visiting guests Steve Doner and Kent Brooks as they speak about their new book, “Broomcorn on the High Plains: A Photographic Record.” Enjoy burgers served right outside Bob’s Diner and enter our rarely-open Eyman-Hill building to see our own set of classic broomcorn machinery!

Free-will donations will be accepted at this event, alongside exciting raffle opportunities for fans of history and the Wizard of Oz. All proceeds will be devoted to painting and maintaining Bob’s Diner, now on the Coronado Museum grounds.
