The Liberal wrestling teams open their seasons Tuesday night at Hugoton. The Liberal boys have 34 out for wrestling for first year head coach and former state champion Sergio Borjas. He was an assistant the past three years. Cindy Orrantia steps in as head coach for the girls who have 18 out for wrestling.
The Redskin boys had four at state last year and return three wrestlers who made state in sophomore Zayden Norez, sophomore AC Gomez, and senior Oscar Pablo. The girls had eight at state last year including Hayleen Martinez who won state back to back seasons. They return sophomore Genesis Orrantia, sophomore Evelyn Sandoval, and junior Aileen Figueroa who made state last year. Here is Liberal’s lineup to begin the season and the schedule.
