The eighth grade Lady Warriors A & B team played their heart out yesterday. Both

teams knew this was going to be the final games of their spectacular middle school basketball

career. Both the A & B teams took on a very quick Great Bend team. The Lady Warriors A&B

team came away with victories. The A-game score was 46-14 with Audrey Gilmore leading the

way with 16pts. The B-game score was 34-12 with Brianna Zuniga leading the way with 13pts.

This set up a showdown with our nemesis Hays Middle School. This was an extremely hard

fought game in both the A&B games. At the end of the first half of the A-game Hays was leading

20-19. The full court press just was not working. To start the second half we switched into a

box and one defense on number 33 who finished the game for them with 13pts. We started to

play some shut down defense. The offense was only getting one shot because we were fighting

and getting almost every rebound. The Lady Warriors ended up defeating Hays Middle School

by a score of 43-34 to become the first ever Middle School WAC Champions with Laci Lanning

leading the way with 17pts. The B team came up short and lost 28-41 with Brianna Zuniga

leading the way with 9pts. Both the A&B team end their outstanding middle school basketball

career with a two year dominating record. The A team finishes 26-0 and the B team finishes 23-

3. Lady Red basketball has a lot to look forward to. Tiffany Bottum
