Ward’s Monster Night Leads Bee Jays Over Rangers

Liberal scored nine in the second and Cayde Ward went 5-6 with two home runs and six RBI’s as the Liberal Bee Jays shrugged off consecutive road losses with a 17-8 home win over the Park City Rangers Friday night at Brent Gould Field.

Liberal scored nine in the first on four hits. Liberal also plated a run in the fourth and scored four runs on five hits in the sixth.  Liberal  scored three in eighth after Park City closed to within 14-8.  The Park City Rangers came ready to hit.  They scored two in the second, one in the third, one in the fifth, two in the sixth, and two in the seventh.

The two teams came ready to swing the bats on a warm July night.  Liberal out hit the Rangers 16-14.  Liberal hit three homers and six doubles as Park City hit one double and one triple.

Ward had the big night with 5-6 with two tape measure home runs and six RBI’s.  Ward has a team leading seven homers this summer.  Scott Anderson homered and was 2-4 with three RBI’s.  AJ Folds was 3-6.  Wyatt Grant was 2-5.

Ethan Swanson started on the mound and went three innings with three runs.  Cole Hillier pitched three innings and did not allow an earned run.  Brady Bowles went three innings allowing one earned run.

Liberal is 18-4 and 17-3 in KCLB games.  This is a non division series as the Rangers play in the Walter Johnson Division.  Park City is 15-8 and 13-8 in the KCLB.

The same two teams play Saturday night at 7 at Brent Gould Field.  Southwest Medical Center is the buyout sponsor.
