The Seward softball team led both of their games in their double header Wednesday afternoon at Dodge City, but it was the Dodge City Conquistadors who prevailed on a hot and sunny day on the turf at the Legends Park in Dodge City 9-5 and 7-4.
In game one, the Conqs scored two in the second. SCCC scored three in the third for the lead before DC3 plated two in the bottom of the third for the 4-3 lead. Seward scored two in the fourth to lead 5-4. But SCCC didn’t score again and Dodge City scored five in the bottom of the fifth. Dodge out-hit Seward 8-7. SCCC had four errors and DC3 had one. Jahlisa Klear had a triple and three RBI’s in the loss.
In game two, the Conqs scored three in the first before the Saints scored three in the third to tie it. Seward plated a fourth inning run and led 4-3 until DCCC scored four in the bottom of the sixth. The Conqs out-hit the Saints 8-6. Seward committed two errors. Jahlisa Klear hit a home run. Emily Lane was 2-3 with a double.
Dodge City is in third in the Jayhawk at 9-3 and is 25-11 overall. Seward falls to 10-20 overall and 2-10 in the Jayhawk. Seward County hosts Garden City Saturday at 1pm at French Family Field.
