Seward Corrals Cowley in ArK City

The Seward Lady Saints begin their KJCCC season 1-1 after a 71-64 win over the Cowley Lady Tigers Saturday afternoon at Scott Auditorium in Ark City.  Seward bullied Cowley on the boards 44-23 and won despite 25 turnovers.

The Lady Saints bolted out to an 11-4 lead and led 16-9 after one quarter.  SCCC led 27-15 before Cowley went on  a 10-0 run to make it 27-25.  Seward recovered to lead 32-29 at halftime.  Seward led 43-36 with five minutes to play in the third and led 52-47 after three.  The Lady Saints took their biggest lead of 71-61 with 1:31 to play.

Seward shot 42 percent from the field while going 5-15 from three and 18-21 at the foul line.  The Tigers shot 31 percent and were 6-31 from three for 19 percent while going 18-24 at the free throw line.

Allie Myers was Epic Touch Player of the Game with 13 points and 11 rebounds.  Kylee Hunt scored 18 and made 10-11 free throws.  Ari Gordon had 11 and Avery Marchino scored 10.  Biyannah Ellis had nine points and eight rebounds.

Cowley is 6-1 and 1-1 in the KJCCC.  Seward is 5-2 and 1-1 in the Jayhawk.  Seward wins their fifth straight against Cowley and leads the overall series 27-8.  Seward hosts Butler Tuesday night at 5:30 in the Green House.
