Saturday Storm Batters Bryan’s Corner

KSCB News - June 15, 2010 12:00 am

Areas east of Highway 83 at Bryan’s Corner in Beaver County received major storm damage Saturday. The Crossroads Bible Fellowship Church lost the steeple and front end of the church. The inside of the church is visible from Highway 83. A grain elevater just north of the church crumbled to the ground. Beaver County Emergency Management Director Keith Shadden says a truck in the area was moved 100 yards. The wind blew the awning at a tire repair shop off. Several homes and trailers near Bryan’s Corner received damage. The storm moved the heat and air units at the convenience store at Bryan’s Corner.

Members of the National Weather Service in Amarillo surveyed the damage Monday. They determined there were straight line winds involved with the storm but haven’t determined whether a tornado was also involved.
