Saints Take Series Over Rattlers

The Seward County Saints and Otero Rattlers split a double header Saturday at Brent Gould Field.  After the Saints swept Otero on Friday, that meant the Saints won the four game series 3-1 over the visiting Rattlers.  The game was played under sunny skies with temperatures in the mid 70’s.

In game one, Otero scored two in the first and one in the fourth for a 3-0 lead.  The Saints plated two in the bottom of the fourth to make it 3-2.  Otero blew the game wide open with a seven run fifth.  The Saints rallied with two in the sixth and three in the seventh.  They loaded the bases with the tying and winning runs on base but Otero closed it out for the win.  SCCC out-hit Otero 10-8.  Both teams had three errors.  Blaine Chancy hit a home run and a double and was 3-3 with two RBI’s and two runs.  Grant Cox and Jorge Beltia Tunon had two hits a piece.  Trajan Chavez pitched three innings allowing one earned run.

The Saints wasted no time jumping on Rattler pitching in game two plating 11 first inning runs.  SCCC added two in the second and three in the third on the way to a seven inning run rule shut out win.  Beau Lang pitched six shutout innings for the win.  John Langhennig pitched a scoreless seventh.  Cooper Turner was 2-2 with two doubles.  Grant Cox was 2-3 with three RBI’s and a double.   Jhett Huffman and Mason Gilbert added two hits a piece.  The Saints out-hit the Rattlers 12-4 and won despite three more errors.

Otero is 1-11 and Seward is 6-12.  The Saints host Enid Tuesday at 2pm.
