The Seward County Saints swept the Otero Rattlers 14-4 and 11-7 Friday afternoon at Brent Gould Field. The games were played with temperatures in the mid 70’s.
In game one, Blaine Chancy slammed two home runs and Ryan Todd added a round tripper. Todd was 3-3 with five RBI’s with a homer and a triple. Isai Santaella, Grant Cox, Blaine Chancy, and Juan Alvarez added two hits a piece. Otero put up four in the first. The Saints scored two in the second before plating four in the third, fourth, and fifth in the run rule. Brooks Kappelmann pitched 3 and 2/3 with four strikeouts and one walk. Braedon Whipple went 1 and 1/3 scoreless. The Saints out-hit the Rattlers 14-4.
In game two, Otero led 1-0 after five innings. The Rattlers scored four in the sixth to lead 5-0. The Saints countered with four in the bottom of the sixth to make it 5-4. The Rattlers scored a run in the seventh to lead 6-4. SCCC plated six in the bottom of the seventh for the 10-6 lead. Both teams scored one in the eight. David Brabb was 4-5 with three doubles and three RBI’s. Juan Alvarez and Grant Cox had two hits a piece. Michael Lujan went five strong innings with seven strikeouts and three walks. Cooper Turner pitched 2 and 1/3 in relief for the win allowing one run and five strikeouts with three walks.
The Saints are 5-11 and Otero is 0-10. The same two teams play Saturday at 1pm at Brent Gould Field.
