Saints Split on Sunny Day at Brent Gould

On a sunny day with spring like temperatures, the Seward County baseball team played at home a Brent Gould Field for the first time this season.  In front of a big crowd, SCCC run ruled the visiting Kirkwood Eagles 14-4 in game one before Kirkwood took game two 16-7.  The Eagles took a 12 hour bus ride to be in Liberal this weekend for the four game series.

In game one, the Saints trailed 3-1 until a three run third followed by five in the fourth and the fifth for the run rule.  The Saints blasted four home runs as Hayden Ramage, Grant Cox, Blaine Chancy, and Cooper Turner hit home runs.  Chancy’s home run was a grand slam.  Cooper Turner, Grant Cox, and Isai Santaella added doubles.  Seward played well defensively without and error and Colton Rowan made a diving catch in left field.

In game two, the Eagles trailed two in the first before scoring four in the second and seven in the third.  The Saints scored in the third and the fourth and plated three in the sixth to make it 11-7.  But Kirkwood had a five run answer in the seventh for a cushion.  Hayden Ramage was 3-4 with three RBI’s.  Gus Eylar was 2-3 with a double.

The Saints are 2-2 and play Kirkwood Sunday at 1pm for a double header with two seven inning games.
