The Seward County Saints split a pair of games against Redlands in El Reno Friday afternoon. The Cougars won the first game 6-4 on a walk off three run home run. The Saints took the second game 7-5 in 10 innings.
In game one, the Saints scored three in the third to take a 3-1 lead. SCCC added a fourth inning run to lead 4-1. Redlands chipped away at the lead with two in the fifth to make it 4-3. Redlands hit the three run home run in the bottom of the seventh for the 6-4 win. The Cougars out-hit the Saints 8-5. Michael Lujan pitched 4 and 1/3 innings allowing two earned runs with six strikeouts and four walks. Isai Santaella and Grant Cox had two hits a piece. Cox had a double and drove home two runs.
In game two, the Saints scored one in the first and led until the Cougars put up a four run fifth. The Saints scored three in the seventh to tie it at 4-4. The game went extra innings and SCCC scored three in the 10th to lead 7-4. The Saints out-hit Redlands 13-6. Seward won despite five errors. Brooks Kappelmann went 4 and 2/3 with seven strikeouts and two walks and did not allow an earned run. Cooper Turner pitched 1 and 1/3 scoreless. Trajan Chavez went four innings for the win allowing no earned runs with five strikeouts and two walks. Blaine Chancy went 2-5 with a home run and three RBI’s. David Brabb, Ryan Todd, and Isai Santaella added two hits a piece. Jhett Huffman and Isai Santaella hit doubles in the win.
Redlands is 6-18 and Seward is 11-15. The same two teams play Saturday at 1pm for a double header at Redlands.
