The Seward County Saints are still dancing. The Saints shocked the Coffeyville Red Ravens 84-75 Tuesday night in the Region 6 quarterfinal at Nellis Hall in Coffeyville. It marks Seward’s third ever win over the Red Ravens in Coffeyville and first since 2010. Seward is going to the Region 6 semifinals for the first time since 2019.
The Saints jumped out to an 11-0 lead. SCCC led 18-5 at the 11:38 mark. It was 26-11 after Antonio Williams Jr. made all three free throws after being fouled on a three. The Saints led 36-20 with 3:45 to play. The Saints led 42-27 at halftime. The Red Ravens jumped all over the Saints to begin the second half cutting the lead to 45-41 at the 15:30 mark. The Ravens cut the lead to 48-46 for a 19-6 run. A pair of Antonio Williams Jr. 3’s game SCCC a 62-55 lead. A Brevyn Coleman left win three gave the Saints a 67-57 lead with nine minutes remaining. The Saints led 69-57 with 7:40 to play. Seward led 73-57 with 5:18 remaining. It was 74-63 Seward at the final media timeout with 3:42 to go.
The Black Hills Energy Player of the Game is Antonio Williams Jr. with 21 points. Bailey Milligan added 14. Lucas N’Gombo scored 10.
The Saints shot 45 percent from the field making 9-23 from three point range and going l27-33 from the foul line for 82 percent. The Ravens shot 44 percent going 5-21 from three and 26-37 from the free throw line.
Coffeyville finishes 21-10 while Seward improves to 20-12. Seward plays Barton at Barton Friday at 3pm on 1270 and 92.3 FM.
