Saints Run Record Gone With the Wind

The Seward County Saints set their school record scoring 30 runs in a game.  Two years ago, SCCC scored 28 runs in a 28-24 win over Dodge City.  Thursday in Garden City, SCCC beat the Garden City Broncbusters 26-6 in game one and 30-5 in game two.   Seven different Saints hit nine home runs on a day when the wind was gusting as high at 50 mph out to left field.   The Saints scored 56 runs and scored in all 12 innings in which they played.

In game one, Seward started the day with a seven run first inning.  They clubbed three homers in the inning.  Ranse Radtke hit a solo shot, Elijah Bear hit a two run home off the scoreboard, and Connor Cox hit a grand slam.  Garden scored three in the first.  SCCC scored four in the second.  Four straight hit batters to begin the inning paved the way.  Tristan Curless hit a sac fly and Trenton Rowan provided an RBI single.  Seward added three in the third.  Elijah Bear, Tristan Curless, and Jerron Wilcox provided RBI singles.  Seward scored five in the fourth.  Connor Cox hit a home run to lead off the inning.  Mason Hagel Pitt hit an RBI single and Jarron Wilcox hit a two RBI single.  The Saints scored seven in the fifth.  Trenton Rowan hit a home run to lead off the inning.  Connor Cox doubled.  Mason Hagel-Pitt hit an RBI single.  Jaron Wilcox hit a three run homer.  Connor Cox was 4-4 with two home runs and six RBI’s.  Jarron Wilcox was 4-5 with six RBI’s.  Mason Hagel-Pitt was 2-4 with four RBI’s.  Brian Luna pitched five innings with eight strikeouts on a tough day to pitch.  Seward out-hit GCCC 20-6.

In game two, Seward scored one in the first on a Mason Hagel-Pittt RBI single.  The Busters scored in the first.  SCCC broke it open with eight in the second.  Jordan Crowder singled to lead off the inning.  Connor Cox doubled him home.  Jaxson Gregg walked to score a run.  Elijah Bear singled home a run.  Jordan Crowder singled home a run and Connor Cox hit a two RBI single.  The Saints kept it rolling with seven in the third.  Ranse Radtke doubled to lead off the inning.  Jaxson Gregg lofted a two run home run to left.  Tristan Curless hit a two run home run into the evergreens beyond center.  Trenton Rowan doubled home a run.  Cameron Cartwright doubled home two.  Seward scored four in the fourth.  Elijah Bear doubled to lead off the inning.  Tristan Curless singled home a run.  Trenton Rowan singled home two.  Cameron Cartwright grounded out to score a run.  Seward plated two in the fifth.  Jordan Crowder provided the two RBI single.  Seward scored three in the sixth.  Tristan Curless provided a three RBI double.  The Saints scored five in the seventh.  Connor Cox doubled to lead off the inning marking the fourth inning the Saints doubled to lead off the inning.  Ranse Radtke hit an RBI double.  Elijah Bear blasted three run home run which stayed fair down the right field line.  Connor Cox was 4-4 with three doubles and three RBI’s and three runs.  He was 8-8 on the day and made it on base all 11 times.  Tristan Curless was 3-7 with six RBI’s.  Elijah Bear was 4-7 with five RBI’s.  Mason Hagel-Pitt 4-6. Ranse Radtke was 3-6 with four runs.  Jasxon Gregg was 2-4 with three RBI’s and five runs.  Brady Ritzman pitched four innings with four strikeouts and no walks.  Elia Herrera pitched two perfect innings.  The Saints out hit Garden City 28-12.  Seward had 10 doubles and 13 extra base hits.

Garden City is 6-25 overall and 3-11 in the Jayhawk West.  The Saints have won six straight and are 18-18 overall and 8-6 in the Jayhawk West.  Seward hosts Garden City Saturday at 1pm with Saints Dugout Show at 12:45 on 1270 and 92.3.
