The Seward County Community College athletic department hosted its annual student-athlete banquet on Friday evening in The Greenhouse.
Members of the public as well as all student-athletes, coaches, and athletic staff were in attendance and had a meal before the night got underway.
SCCC President Brad Bennett welcomed everyone and was followed by Associate Vice President of Athletic Cody Cole who introduced Darko Cohaderevic. Cohaderevic, a former Saints men’s basketball player and current volunteer assistant coach, was officially inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame and gave an acceptance speech. Following that, the Saints dished out department-wide awards. You can view the award winners below.
The Jamie Talbert Award was presented to Destiny Alexander of women’s basketball. The award is presented annually to a women’s basketball student-athlete who exemplifies a positive attitude, strong work ethic, success in the classroom through academics and attendance, and outstanding performance on the court.
The Wade Johnstone Award was presented to Brooks Kappelmann of baseball. The award is presented annually to a baseball student-athlete who exemplifies a positive attitude, strong work ethic, success in the classroom through academics and attendance, and strong performance on the diamond.
