The Seward County Saints are back to .500 after an 86-64 win over the visiting Butler Grizzlies in the Green House Thursday night. Seward forced Butler into 24 turnovers. Butler had been averaging only 10 turnovers a game.
The Grizzlies jumped ahead of the Saints 12-6 and 20-13 at the media timeout. The Saints rallied using an 18-4 run to lead 31-24 and led 37-28 at halftime. Seward didn’t let up in the second half as the game was never close. Seward led by as many as 24 (74-50).
Kevon Cooper had 21 points and six rebounds. Sam Henderson had 17 points. Stephen Takyi had 14. Erik Pratt added 10. Seward shot 48 percent from the field and made 9-22 from three. Seward was 15-19 at the foul line. Seward entered the game shooting 57 percent at the foul line.
Seward is 2-2 and Butler is 2-2 in the Jayhawk Conference. Seward host Cloud Wednesday in the Green House at 8 on 107.5 and kscbnews.net.
