Redskins Shut Out Bishop Carroll

Brock Kappelmann - September 11, 2020 6:35 am

The Liberal Redskins gained a big win Thursday night.  Liberal traveled to Wichita and defeated the Bishop Carroll Eagles 1-0 Thursday evening at Carroll Field.  Liberal’s goal came on an A.J. Ramirez penalty kick in the first half.  The Redskins had nine shots on goal and goalie Alfred Lopez had seven saves.

Coach Lori Navarro Comments:

“I felt both teams came ready and well prepared to play against a very tough and talented BC team.  Our defense was tested all game but they communicated well and helped keep the ball out of our net.  We still have a lot of work ahead of us but this was a well played game.”

Liberal is 1-1 and hosts the Dodge City Red Demons for their home opener and Senior Night Tuesday at the Gary Cornelsen Sports Complex.  JV game at 5 and the varsity at about 6:45.

The JV also won 1-0 at Carroll.  Samme Tesfay scored the goal assisted by Eli Aguilar in the second half.
