Redskin Golf Battles Wind at Newton

Brock Kappelmann - April 14, 2023 6:43 am

Nick Rotolo

The Liberal boys golf team finished 16th out of 22 teams shooting a team score of 422. It was a very difficult day with the 30+ mph winds, but they battled all day as it was the first difficult golf course 3 of them have ever played. Both returners improved on their score from last year at this course Ryan Mein led the way for the team with a 97 (T53) and Joseph Haskell shot a 110 (T94). For the boys that this was their first time to play a course of this difficulty Skyler Hubbard shot 100 (T65), Landon Martinez 115 (T104), and Andrew Varnado shot a 154 (122) in his first ever competitive round.

Overall I thought we played well at times and had some holes that was a very good learning experience. The boys were positive through out the difficult day and understand what they need to work on to get back there at the end of May for state.
