Rattlers Take 3rd at Opening Tournament in El Dorado

The Liberal Rattlers opened their tournament season with a 3rd place finish at the Oral Taylor Classic in El Dorado.  Liberal blew out Topeka 9-0 on Friday afternoon.  The game was called an official game at McDonald Stadium in El Dorado.  The Rattlers had two games rained out on Saturday.  The team woke up bright and early but lost to the Iola Indians 6-1 on Sunday morning in a semifinal game as tournament organizers re-worked the bracket.  Liberal defeated Newton 14-6 Saturday afternoon for third.  The Rattlers are 3-2 and host the Dodge City A’s Wednesday at 5pm for a double header at the National Beef Sports Complex.

The Rattler 13u team won the Charlie Dunn Tournament in Augusta.  The Rattlers knocked off the Cowley Lugnuts 2-1 in the championship game Sunday night in Garvin Park.  The Rattlers beat the Augusta Ballers 8-5 in the semifinals and beat the Augusta Knights 9-2 in the quarterfinals Sunday.
