Pioneers Pound Bee Jays

Liberal pitching and defense struggled in a blowout loss to the Western Nebraska Pioneers Friday night in Gering.  The Pioneers scored all 14 runs in the first five innings of a 14-7 win over Liberal.  Liberal scored two in the first but Western Nebraska scored six.  Liberal countered with two in the second but the Pioneers plated one in the second and two in the third to lead 9-2.  The B.J.’s scored three in the fourth to make it 9-7.   But the Pioneers continued to pour it on with three in the fourth and two in the fifth.  Western Nebraska out-hit Liberal 18-8 and the Bee Jays committed five errors.  Liberal is 4-1  and the Pioneers are 6-3.  The same two teams meet Saturday night at 7:35 central time.
