Willis Terry Bill Wolgamott

PLAINS – “Terry Bill” as he was known, was born in Hardtner, KS on June 22, 1943, the second son of Willis Lyman and Hester Hann McMinn. He grew up on the family farm west of Hardtner. Graduating from Hardtner High School in 1961. He attended Northwestern State College for three years.

Willis married Lana Woods whom he met in college. Three children were born, Nathan Bradley,, Rebekah Jan, and Jana Lee. Lana and Willis divorced in 1979. Willis worked in the oil field in the Woodward area and dairy farmed. In 1982 he sold the dairy farm and worked in the oil field full time. During the oil boom, Willis moved to OKC and later to Dallas, TX to work and lived in the Dallas area for several years.

Willis returned to the Hardtner area in 1989 and enrolled at Northwestern Oklahoma State University to finish his education then he received his Masters degree in Special Education. While at Northwestern Willis met Tracy Thomas in August 1990 and they married December 23, 1993 in Fargo, OK. To this union Will gained a son Jeremy Lee and Lyman Riley was born in 1994. After a short stay in Oklahoma Wills and Tracy accepted teaching jobs in Garden City, KS. Then in 2001, they moved to Plains, KS and began his 14 year long teaching career at Southwestern Heights High School in Special Education. Willis retired May, 2015.

Willis is survived by his wife Tracy of the home, his sons Nathan Brady of Oklahoma City, Jeremy Lee (Carly) of Eudora, KS, his daughters Rebekah Jan of Bloomington, IN, and Jana Lee of Boulder City, NV. His grandchildren Ana and Ethan of Boulder City, NV, Maisie and Tommy of Bloomington, IN, Shirey and Chazley of Eudora, KS.

Willis is preceded in death by his parents, his son Lyman Riley and several Aunt, Uncles and cousins.

Willis Terry Bill Wolgamott of Plains, KS passed away early Friday morning, April 15, 2022, at his home. Visitation will be held Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade on Monday, April 18, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Funeral will be at The First United Methodist Church of Plains, KS on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will be in the Hardtner Cemetery, Hardtner, KS at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2022. Then the family will convene at the Hardtner School Gymnasium if you want to stop by and visit.

The family would welcome memorials to the Terry Wolgamott Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
