William Rogers

William N. Rogers, age 76, passed away Tuesday evening, September 8, 2020, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita, Kansas.

He was born September 24, 1943, at Ravenna, Ohio, the son of Samuel N. and Marion K. (Drapczak) Rogers. As a young boy, he attended school in Manhattan, Kansas, graduating from Lucky High School in 1961. He later attended Kansas State University. A longtime Meade resident, he was a rancher and a journeyman carpenter.

He was a member of the Carpenters Union; served on the Meade County Extension Council; volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America and in several capacities with the local 4-H clubs. He enjoyed woodworking, reading and reciting poetry, portraying Santa Claus during the holiday, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.

On December 23, 1967, he married Beverly Merkle at Manhattan, Kansas. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter Katherine (Kit) Rogers of Wichita, Kansas; two sons, Duke and Chas Rogers both of Wichita; three brothers, Carl, Samuel, and Mark Rogers; and two sisters, Cindy Ella Killian and Alice Feaney; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Tonya Faye Rogers on August 23, 1968; his parents; and five brothers, Lawrence, Nicholas, George, Robert, and Ted Rogers.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2020, at Graceland Cemetery, Meade. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. with the family present at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.

The family would welcome memorials to the Meade County Fair or the Meade Food Bank in care of the funeral home.
