The holiday is just around the corner, BUT it’s not time to use your fireworks just yet.
Local sale of fireworks will not begin until July 1st. Fireworks are allowed from July 2 & July 3 between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. and on July 4th from 8 a.m. – midnight. Following these hours help people and pets be prepared for loud noises, so PLEASE respect the schedule.
Residents are encouraged to celebrate safely and responsibly while respecting others in their neighborhood while fireworks are being used. Residents are REQUIRED to clean up their firework debris and trash. Bottle rockets, M-80s, and other similar self-propelled fireworks or firework devices consisting of a tube and attached guiding stock or rod shall NOT be sold or discharged in the City of Liberal.
Fireworks CANNOT be used in the following areas:
– Parks, streets, or school properties
– Public or private parking lots (including business parking lots)
– Private grounds or vacant lots without permission
– Within 100 feet of a firework stand
– Within 150 feet of a gas station
