After an amazing and full life, Virginia Lee Wilson, age 80, died Monday, October 30, 2023, in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born on January 1, 1943, the daughter of John Peter and Mary Frances (McDermott) Kessler in Scott City, Kansas.

Virginia went to Leota High School in Leota, Kansas and continued her education in Dodge City, Kansas where she earned her nursing degree. She worked in the medical field as a nurse for many years. On April 1, 1963, Virginia was united in marriage to Glen L. Wilson for 41 years until his death on February 17,2004. She was the loving mother of two children, Glen Jr., “Butch” and Margaret, and doting grandmother of six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Virginia loved butterflies, beautiful trees, and doing arts and crafts. She enjoyed being active, working on puzzles, and word search books. Virginia especially treasured traveling with family, and Christmas, keeping her Christmas tree up until after her birthday. She created a lot of joy for many during her lifetime and will be forever remembered.

Virginia is survived by her son Glen “Butch” Wilson Jr., and his wife, Paulina of Austell, Georgia, daughter, Margaret Thompson of Liberal, Kansas, sister, Marilyn Luebbers of Liberal, Kansas, six grandchildren, Jessica, Hilary, Tara, Melanie, Majorie, Christian, five great grandchildren, Jeremey, Gracie, Lane, Nathaniel, and Noah.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Wilson, parents, John, and Mary Frances Kessler, son-in-law, Mitch Thompson, and sister, Carolyn Herman.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel, 1212 W. 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas with Pastor David Harris presiding.

A burial to follow at 3:00 PM, at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Anthony, Kansas.

Memorial Donations suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
