Sublette – Sharon Hinkle-Murphy, 78, died February 7, 2024, at her home in Amarillo, Texas, She was born June 22, 1945 in Bucklin, to Glenn and Pauline (Petrowsky) Batman.

A longtime resident of Haskell County, Kansas, Sharon was employed at the Haskell County Court House for 29 years, serving as County Clerk for 15 of those years. Sharon married Jim Hinkle on August 18, 1963 in Sublette. He preceded her in death on December 4, 2006. She married George “Ed” Murphy on February 20, 2015 in Liberal. He survives.

Sharon is survived by her daughter Sonja Parker and husband Kevin of Liberal; sister, Linda Alexander of Ulysses; daughter-in-law, Tina Hinkle of Garden City; four grandchildren, Travis Hinkle of Garden City, A.J. Hinkle of Sublette, Kelsey Ray and husband Jacob on Canyon, Texas, and Katie Redman and husband Roy of Yukon, Oklahoma, and her first great grandchild that will be arriving soon. Additionally, Sharon is also survived by stepson, Gary Murphy and wife Joanna of Sublette and Ed’s granddaughters, Sara Murphy of Sublette and Hailey Murphy of Oakley, California. She is preceded in death also by her son, David Hinkle; her parents; and a stepson, James Murphy.

Funeral service will be held at Sublette Christian Church on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 10:30 AM with Pastor David Rine presiding. Burial will follow at Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Sublette on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. The casket will remained closed. Memorials are suggested to Western Ave Church of Christ or New Mexico Children’s Home in care of the funeral home.
