Shannan Dawn Whetstone, age 34, died Sunday, July 19, 2020, in Amarillo, Texas.
She was born on June 17, 1986 in Liberal, Kansas, the daughter of Sterling “Butch” Gehrer and Sharla Donovan Osborn.

Shannan graduated from Richard Milburn High School in Amarillo, Texas in 2003. In 2008, she earned her Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas.
Shannan enjoyed many things in life. She worked as an Executive Assistant at the Baker Arts Center, an Executive Assistant at the K – State Extension Office and she was also a Baker at Dillions in Liberal, Kansas. Shannan loved to serve her community. She was a member of the Stepping – Stone Board and the International Pancake Day Board. She made the International Pancake Day Memorial Book for the last four years.

Shannan was the beloved mother of two daughters, Jordyn Rose and Lillian Whetstone, both of Canyon, Texas.

She is survived by her husband, Todd Whetstone; her parents, mother, Sharla Donovan Osborn and father, Sterling “Butch” Gehrer and his spouse Cindy Stroud; brothers, Mikennon Donovan of Canyon, Texas, and Garrett Osborn of Leon, Iowa; sister, Cheyanne Fischer of Scott City, Kansas; mother – in – law, Juanita Whetstone of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandfather, Clarence Combs of Turpin, Oklahoma; grandparents, Paul and Karen Donovan, Carol and Roger Rose all of Liberal, Kansas, and several other family members who liver her and will miss her dearly.

Shannan is preceded in death by her great – grandmother, Truth Cain; grandfather, Wayne Gehrer; granny, JoAnn Combs; father – in – law, Robert Whetstone; and stepfather, Gary “Daddio” Osborn.

The Funeral Service will be Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel, 1212 W. 2nd Street, in Liberal, Kansas at 10:00 AM with Pastor Matt Spurgin presiding.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Whetstone Children Education fund or the International Pancake Day fund, in care of the Brenneman Hornung Family Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
