Sanh Van Tran, age 79, died on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at his residence in Liberal, Kansas.
He was born on July 15, 1946, in Vietnam, to Tran Van On and Doan Thi Bay.
Sanh completed high school and lived a life marked by strength, perseverance, and devotion to his family. He served in the South Vietnamese Army and endured six years as a prisoner of war, carrying with him a quiet courage that reflected the depth of his character.
In 1992, he moved to the United States, where he worked hard to build a new life. He was employed by National Beef and also spent time farming, always showing dedication, patience, and pride in the work of his hands.
Sanh found joy in the simple blessings of life, especially fishing and gardening. His gentle spirit, resilience, and love for those around him will be remembered with deep affection by all who knew him.
He is survived by his two sons, Thanh Tran, of Boston, Massachusetts and
Nam Tran and his wife, JoLynn of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Two daughters, Thuy Tran and her husband Dat Vo of Liberal, Kansas and
Dieu Tran and her husband, Hung of Pennsylvania,
ten Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Dieu Thi Truong,
Parents, Tran Van On and Doan Thi Bay.
Visitation will be 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 27, 2026, Buddhist prayers will be throughout the day at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
A final send-off chant will be at 2:00 PM followed by the procession to the witness cremation.
