Sammy “Ray” McGuire Jr

Sammy “Ray” McGuire Jr., age 63, died Friday, August 28, 2020, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart, Kansas. He was born October 16, 1956, in Plainview, Texas the son of Sammy McGuire Sr. and Dorothy Ann (Gardner) McGuire.

Ray was born and raised in Texas. He married Patricia Williamson on June 30, 1980 in Anson, Texas. They spent 40 wonderful years together. He and Patricia lived in Stamford, Texas until 1988 when they relocated to Elkhart. Once in Elkhart, Ray opened Sam’s Auto Repair and worked as a mechanic. Ray loved to watch TV shows, work on cars, play with his grandchildren and spend time with his wife and dog. Ray will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia of their home; son, Michael Ray McGuire, of Elkhart, Kansas; daughters, Alicia Renee Turner and husband George of Channing, Texas, and Amber Lynn McGuire of Elkhart, Kansas; brother, Randy McGuire of Roswell, New Mexico; two grandchildren, Tyler Schmidt and Dorothy McGuire.

Sammy is preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents.

Graveside service will be held Friday, September 4, 2020, at 2:00 PM at the Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart, Kansas, with Pastor Terrell Giddens officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Sammy “Ray” McGuire memorial fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
