Ruth D. Loewen, age 90, passed away Thursday morning, December 6, 2018, at the Kansas Medical Center, Andover, Kansas.

She was born November 23, 1928, at Meade, Kansas, the daughter of Isaac B. and Mary (Neufeld) Regier. As a young girl she attended grade school at Pleasant Hill before attending the Meade Bible Academy. After her graduation from the Bible Academy, she attended Tabor College in Hillsboro.

On August 26, 1949, she married Harvey C. Isaac at Meade.  After their marriage the couple lived in Denver, Colorado and Hutchinson, Kansas, before returning to Meade.  On October 14, 1988, Harvey passed away.  On May 26, 1990, she married John Loewen at Meade.  After their marriage, the couple continued to make their home in Meade where she worked for the Lone Tree Retirement Center for twenty years in the laundry department and was a homemaker for many years.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church and assisted in many areas of the church including the Mission Society and as the church janitor.  She enjoyed baking, embroidery, reading, working in her flower garden, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, John of Meade; a son, Jim Isaac (Carol) of Omaha, Nebraska; three daughters, Carla Stucky (Lynn) of Pretty Prairie, Kansas, Valerie Badgett (Ross) of Palestine, Texas, and Janice Camera (Tony) of Amherst, Ohio; three stepdaughters, Rosina Fast (Cliff) of York, Nebraska, Eileen Collins (J.R.) of Dodge City, Kansas, and Stella Brown (Joe) of Tallahassee, Florida; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harvey; parents; two stepsons, Dwight Loewen and Gordon Loewen; five brothers, Jacob, Frank, Ed, August, and Roy Reiger; and three sisters, Minnie Thiessen, Agnes Loewen, and Lydia Nickel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2018, at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade.  Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Interment will follow the service in the Countryside Bible Church Cemetery, rural Meade.

The family would welcome memorials to the Lone Tree Retirement Center or Love Meade in care of the funeral home.
