Roy James Meador

Roy James Meador 92, passed away early Sunday, October 31st, 2021. He was at Southwestern Medical center in Liberal Kansas. Roy was born November 8, 1929, at home to Mary Edith “Kern” Meador and Thomas James Meador. He started school at two little country schools, West Banner and Salem Valley. From there he went to Ingalls and then graduated from Ingalls High school. He married his childhood sweetheart Betty Frazier October 2, 1949. They moved to Sublette where he worked with construction on the Christian Church. Then he worked at United Carbon Black till it closed after 40 years of working as an owner operator dirt contractor, he and Betty went to work as houseparent’s at Youthville in Dodge City. Not wanting to look at retirement yet, he worked as manager at the Haskell County Landfill till he retired at 80 years old. He loved the Lord and his Family. Loving every moment spent with his kids and grandkids and Great grandkids. Roy passed on to his children a high level of integrity along with a superior work ethic. He enjoyed reading western books and doing word search puzzles. Traveling was a great joy as he went with his wife, family, and friends. A yearly family reunion for over 50 years was a special joy to him. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Satanta, Kansas.

Survivors include wife, Betty Meador, Satanta, KS.; two sons, Roy Steven Meador and wife Susan, Augusta, KS., Paul David Meador and wife Lisa, Watonga, OK.; two daughters, Sandy Bradford, and husband Jerry, Liberal, KS., Debra Diane Meador and Companion Mike Hooper, Sublette, KS; 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his two brothers, Leigh Meador and John Meador; six sisters, Marian Caldwell, Ethel Withers, Alta Peacock, Irma Taton, Ida Mae Long and Hattie Lashmet and grandson Bobby Proctor.

A memorial has been established for the United Methodist Church or Gideons. Memorials may be mailed to Robson Funeral Home, PO Box 747, Satanta, Kansas 67870.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021, 2 PM at United Methodist Church, Satanta. Burial will follow at Dudley Township Cemetery, Satanta.

Viewing will be Wednesday, November 3, 2021, from 2 PM to 8 PM at Robson Funeral Home, Satanta. Family will receive family and friends from 6 PM to 8 PM at Robson Funeral Home.
