Rondal Thompson

Rondal Thompson, 81, of Hooker, Oklahoma passed away April 26, 2011 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas

Rondal was born September 3, 1929 in Pocasset, Oklahoma, the son of Milas Preston and Anne Anderson Thompson. He attended school in Woodward, Oklahoma .

After school he entered the U.S. Army serving in Germany. After his honorable discharge he returned to the Woodward area until 1954 when he moved to Guymon, Oklahoma , working for Adams Hardfacing.

Rondal worked for the Guymon Police Department and during this time met Ruth Grove. They were united in marriage May 6, 1956 at the First Baptist Church in Hardesty, Oklahoma .

They made Guymon their first home. Rondal continued to work for Adams Hardfacing for 35 years. In June of 1971 they moved to Hooker, Oklahoma. Rondal ran his own hardfacing business, cared for the Hooker Golf Course and was custodian for the First Baptist Church in Hooker.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hooker and a former member of Trinity Baptist Church in Guymon. Rondal and Ruth taught the 2 and 3 year olds Sunday school for forty five years.

Rondal was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Melvin and M.P. Thompson, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth of the home; two sons, Ron and his wife Kim of Grass Valley, California and Rick and his wife, Lisa of Bartlesville, Oklahoma ; one daughter, Rasonya Flynt and her husband, Larry of Turpin, Oklahoma; one brother, Roy Lee Thompson and his wife, Virginia of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Aubree Thompson Vessier, Casey Flynt, Ryan Thompson , Jordyn Thompson.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Hooker, Oklahoma with Pastor Ron Thompson and Brother Jim Roebuck officiating. Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery directed by the Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Hooker, Oklahoma.

Memorials are suggested to the Hooker Ambulance Association or the Hooker Fire Fighters and may be left at the Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma 73945 .
