Roland Robert Wyer, 66, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at his home.

He was born April 16, 1956, to LaVerne Wyer and Rolisa Johnson.

He married Jane Smith July 23, 1987, in Perryton, Texas at the Ochiltree County Courthouse.

He graduated from Liberal High School in 1974. While in high school, he enjoyed playing football.

He worked in the oilfield starting at the age of 15. During his career he worked at Loman & Johnson Drilling, Sage Drilling, Gabert & Jones. Cheyenne Drilling, NLS INC, NLS Wireline Corp, Fesco, and Meridian Wireline. Over the course of these years he met many people who became his lifelong friends and he became a well-respected member of the industry.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on his vehicles and of course always keeping them clean and shiny. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren, Kinley and Kyan.

Survivors include daughter, Sarah Jane Knudsen and husband, Aaron; grandchildren, Kinley and Kyan; brother, Robby, Topeka; sisters: Rhodona, Augusta, Roxsanna (Rick), Augusta, and Roshanna, Florida; sisters-in-law: Karen (John) Seymour, Iowa, Marie, Numa, Iowa, and Mary, Seymour, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his grandparents; parents; two brothers; one brother-in-law; and one nephew.

• Roland never liked being the center of attention and per his wishes there will be no services. His family will gather to celebrate his life at a later time.
