Roberta Shrauner

Frances Roberta Shrauner died peacefully in her home in Elkhart, Kansas, on April 27, 2017, at the age of 98.  Roberta was born to Albert and Pearl (Sprott) Pearsall on March 29, 1919, in Meade County Kansas. She lived on a farm 17 miles south of Meade.  Her father died when she was six years old and she and her four brothers were raised by their Mother.
Roberta attended Dodge City Jr. College from which she graduated in 1939.  She taught in a country school at Wright, Kansas, before moving to Elkhart in 1944 to teach elementary school.  There she met and married Floyd Vernon Shrauner on February 17, 1945.  Floyd was a farmer and cattleman.  Roberta later became the Director of the Morton County Welfare and held the position for 16 years.  She was always willing to help Floyd with the farming and cattle and she hauled many a hot meal to the field.  She was famous in the community for her fried chicken.  Roberta had a beautiful voice and sang solos for many special occasions throughout her life.
Roberta was a member of P. E.O., Eastern Star, Federated Women’s Club and Chit Chat.
Roberta is survived by her four children:  Deanna Crook of Amarillo, TX; Scott Shrauner and wife Lynette, Rita Walrod and husband Phil and Kim Shrauner, all of Elkhart, KS.  Six grandchildren; Dawn Ferreiro and husband Alex, Carrollton, TX; Tanna Murphy and husband Nathan, Amarillo, TX; Reid Shrauner and wife Sarahjessica, Elkhart, KS; Lisa Darnell and husband Chad, Carrollton, TX; Ty Walrod, San Francisco, CA, and Zac Walrod and wife Becky, Denver, CO, and ten great grandchildren: Elijah, Abram, Silas, Isla, Corbyn, Georgia, Max, Ari, Dylan and Evie. Roberta is also survived by her sister-in-law Pat Moore and husband DJ and sister-in-law Mildred Gilbert along with many nieces and nephews.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Norman, Garold, Paul and Ray Pearsall and her husband Floyd.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017, at the United Methodist Church, Elkhart, Kansas with Pastor Shella Choi officiating.  Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday, April 30 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.
