Roberta “Grandma Bertie” Headrick Cantwell

Roberta “Grandma Bertie” Headrick Cantwell, 91, of Turpin, Oklahoma passed away August 5, 2020 at Beaver County Nursing Home in Beaver, Oklahoma.

Roberta was born May 21, 1929 on the family farm south of Baker, Oklahoma, the daughter of Leland and Bernice Harder Scott. She attended Eureka School in Baker.

She was united in marriage to Warren Headrick in Forgan, Oklahoma, April 9, 1945. They lived in a dugout south of Baker and farmed. In 1948 they bought their farm which was two miles west of Turpin, Oklahoma. Roberta and Warren were members of the Turpin United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, VBS and was a member of the WSCS. They lived and farmed there and on December 15, 1977, Warren passed away.

On March 2, 1991, Roberta was united in marriage to Jerry Cantwell in Turpin, Oklahoma. They became members of the Turpin Baptist Church. Jerry passed away November 13, 2003. Roberta lived on the farm until 2004 when she moved into her home in Turpin.

She enjoyed crocheting, the ballgames of the grandchildren including traveling to their games, reading, puzzles and watching the Game Show Network.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Warren Headrick, and her second husband, Jerry Cantwell; a brother, Walter Scott and two sisters, Nancy Mendenhall and Thelda Dean Baker and one great grandson, Vance; step son in law, Butch Hearon.

Survivors include four sons, Steve and Tommy Ann Headrick, Duane and Betty Headrick, Milton and Jane Headrick, Marvin and Jetta Headrick all of Turpin, Oklahoma; one daughter, Ella and J.D. Marteney of Liberal, Kansas; two brothers, Bob and Lavonna Scott of Grand Lake, Oklahoma, L.J. and Cindy Scott of Hooker, Oklahoma; two sisters, Ethel Abel of Liberal, Kansas, Thelma Jean and Duane Lambert of Kismet, Kansas; brother in law, Ivan and Marilyn Headrick of Liberal, Kansas; sisters in law, Marjorie Headrick and Mary Hintergardt both of Guymon, Oklahoma and Heidi Scott of Illinois; fifteen grandchildren, twenty nine great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren; stepchildren, Billy and Karen Cantwell of Garden Dale, Texas, Donna Hearon of Booker, Texas.

Memorials are suggested to the Turpin Baptist Church and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma 73945.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, August 9th, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2020 at the Turpin Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Cox officiating. Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma.
