Robert Clayton Fox

Joe Denoyer - December 5, 2022 4:11 pm

Father, brother, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather are but a few words to describe Bob. He touched countless lives during his time here on Earth.

Robert Clayton Fox was born in Satanta, Kansas, on November 17, 1934, to William J. Fox and Enola Ruth Thompson Fox.

Bob attended grade school and graduated from high school in Moscow, Kansas, in the Spring of 1952. He was raised on the family farm and, upon graduation, began a lifetime career of farming in Southwest Kansas. With generous help, he farmed as long as he lived. In 1961, he established Fox Sales and Service where he sold and service implement and irrigation motors.

After dating Paula J. Chaffin for several years, Bob asked the love of his life to marry him. They were married on a rainy evening in September of 1955 and enjoyed 61 years of marriage prior to Paula’s death in 2017; although, a true love story never ends.

Several years later, he became a father to Lisa and Eric. Cassie, Christian, Gabby and Max called him Grandpa and, to Emmett, Reese and Olivia, he was great-grandpa.

His vision of vacation was fishing and camping. His hand constructed wooden camper on the bed of the farm pickup would always suffice as we wandered to the mountains in Southwestern Colorado before school and corn harvest started. He enjoyed numerous fishing trips to Alaska and Canada with friends.

For many years, Del Rio, Texas, was his winter home resulting in wonderful friends, fishing and memories. Each year, they left a little earlier and returned a little later.

In 1946, Bob joined Boy Scouts and invested 76 years of his time and energy to being a scout leader as well as multiple leadership positions within the Santa Fe Trail Council. Bob was instrumental in establishing the Spanish Peaks Boy Scout Camp in Southern Colorado and shared his camping and fishing skills with many at the camp. In time, he would attend the International Boy Scout Jamboree in Australia as a Scout Master.

Bob is survived by his son, Eric and his wife Gina of Rockwall, Texas, and daughter, Lisa and her husband Randy of Colby, Kansas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Cassie Cole, Christian Wilson, Gabrielle Wilson and Max Fox, as well his great grandchildren: Emmett Cole, Reese Cole and Olivia Wilson.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the Moscow Christian Fellowship Church in Moscow, Kansas, with Patty Lahey officiating. Interment will follow at the Moscow Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, December 9, 2022, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home, 920 E. 11th St. in Hugoton.
