Rickie Lynn Sumner

Rickie Lynn Sumner of Aurora, Colorado passed away on July 23, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones.

Rickie was born in Karlstad, Minnesota on September 12, 1951 to Ronald “Bill” and Donna Sumner.
He attended Liberal High School graduating in 1969. After high school he served in the United States
Army from 1972-1975. Rickie was stationed overseas in Germany and then returned back to the
United States and was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Rickie married Kathy Lynn Zunk and together they had 3 children, Eric, Donna and Andrea. Rickie and
Kathy moved to Garden City, Kansas where he worked for the family business Modern Insulation.
After, a few years he moved on and worked for D.V. Douglas Roofing for more than 20 years. During
this time he met many wonderful people. After, retiring Rickie and Kathy moved to Aurora, Colorado
to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Rickie is survived by his children Eric Sumner (Kelli) Aurora, Colorado; Donna Whittington (Clay)
Denver, Colorado and Andrea Schaffer: Denver, Colorado; grandchildren Ali Shantz (Derek), Peyton
Ross, Zachary Sumner, Jayden Schaffer and Mackenzie Sumner; great-grandchildren Stella and Jude
Shantz; brothers Dean Sumner (Debbie), Larry Sumner (Pauline), Kelly Sumner, Ronnie Sumner
(Carmen) and Robert Sumner; sisters Virgina Salmans (Nyle), Shelia Lucas (Randy), Rhonda Sumner,
Patty Rosenbeck (Joe) and Donetta Conn (Terry). Rickie also, had many nephews and nieces.
Rickie is preceded in death by Kathy Lynn Sumner and his parents Ronald “Bill” and Donna Sumner.

A combined Memorial Service for Rickie and Kathy will be held at10:00 am on Saturday August 27, 2022
at the Miller Mortuary Chapel followed by a graveside committal service for Rickie at Liberal City Cemetery.

Miller Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
