Richard Lee Sherer, 79, of Kismet, KS passed away on Tuesday May 18,
2021 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, KS.
He was born on June 25, 1941 at Liberal, KS to Brice and Waneta (Sager)
Sherer.
On January 22, 1966 he married Sharil Means at Kismet, KS; she survives.
Richard was raised on the family dairy farm outside of Kismet. He was a
graduate of Kismet High School; class of 1959.
Richard worked as a Superintendent for City of Kismet. He retired in
2006 after 35 years. He was a Charter Member of the Kismet Lions Club,
Member of the KS Public Works Association, and devoted many years of his
life to helping the Little Worlds Fair run smoothly, serving as Grand
Marshall in 2007.
Richard enjoyed fishing, welding, and tinkering; most of all he loved
being “Poppy” to his grandchildren. Richard was proud of his kids and
family. He was a long time member of the Kismet United Methodist Church.
Richard is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years Sharil,
Four Children, Robert Sherer of Guymon, OK, Connie Johnson and husband
Chris of Kinsley, KS, Kimberly Sherer of Liberal, KS, Richie Sherer and
wife Brenda of Kismet, KS; Six Grandsons, Ryan Sherer, Tanner Warren,
Conner Warren, Lane Sherer, Cole Sherer, Cooper Clumsky; Three
Granddaughters, Kimberly Magnon, Briana Magnon, Krislyn Sherer; Great
Grandson, Preston Martinez; and Brother, Bill Sherer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Granddaughter Kennedy
Sherer.
Viewing will be 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Miller
Mortuary with family present to greet friends from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the
Kismet United Methodist Church, with Pastor Terry Mayhew, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Kismet Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Kismet Lions Club and Kismet United
Methodist Church in care of Miller Mortuary PO Box 826 Liberal, KS
67905-0826.
