Ray Edgar “Bubby” Boothby

Ray Edgar “Bubby” Boothby 96 passed away, June 23, 2012 Saturday at Emeritus Liberal Springs in Liberal, KS.

He was born June 5, 1916 in a dugout near Texhoma, OK the son of Dan C. and Susie (Sweet) Boothby. He has been a longtime resident of Texhoma, OK, moving to Liberal, KS eight and half years ago.
He graduated from Texhoma High School, Texhoma, OK in 1934. As a young married man he moved to California to work as a machinist for Lockheed Aircraft Company before enlisting in the United States Army Aircorp. During World Ward II he served in the Pacific Front from 1943 to 1946. Returning to Texhoma he was a salesman for Panhandle Chevrolet. In 1957 he went to work for the Oklahoma Highway department as a bookkeeper for the maintenance department. He retired in 1979. He had also severed as the city clerk of Texhoma, OK.
He is a member of the First Christian Church of Texhoma, OK.

On April 24, 1941, he married Arliene Fleming in Texhoma, Oklahoma. She died March 20, 2010.

He served in the US Army during WWII from 1943 to 1946.

1 Sister in law Loveda Boothby Norman, OK

5 grandchildren David Boothby Jr., Temple, TX, Brandy Edelen, Yukon, OK, Chris Boothby, Mustang, OK, Holly Harp, Liberal, KS, Gary Geist, Liberal, KS, 2 step grandchildren Brent Poley, Lakewood, CO and Andrew Poley, Longbeach, CA

10 Great grandchildren and 4 Step Grandgrandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents, great grandson Dalton Geist, and three brothers Eugene “Dick” Boothby, Frank Boothby and Richard Boothby.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday at the First Christian Church of Texhoma, OK. with Pastor Larry Watson and Rollin Boothby, nephew, presiding. Burial will be held in Texhoma Cemetery, Texhoma, TX with military honors by Ft. Sill Honor Guard.

Visitation time will be from 6 to 8pm Tuesday at Brenneman Funeral Home with the family to greet friends at that same time, and from 10 am to service time Wednesday at the First Christian Church in Texhoma, OK.
