Rachael Ann Stewart

Rachael Ann Stewart, age 78, flew with the Angels to her Heavenly Home on Friday, November 7, 2025, from her home in Rolla, Kansas. She was born on August 8, 1947, in Eureka, Kansas, the eleventh child to Wayne and Ione (Morgan) Lewis.

Rachael attended school in Quincy and Hamilton, graduating from Rolla High School in May 1965. She then traveled by train to work in Idaho and Texas and eventually came back to Rolla. Rachael married Robert “Bob” Clinton Stewart in Wichita, Kansas, on October 26, 1968. After his honorable discharge from the United States Army, they lived in various places before living the last 55 years in Morton County.

Rachael and Bob were avid animal lovers. They spoiled their animals along with feeding several neighborhood cats. Rachael was the first female Mayor in Rolla and had served as the Site Manager at Rolla Senior Center which she loved and made many friends. However, her family was the most important thing to her. When they called and needed something she was always right there for them. She sent out Christmas letters every year and always reached out to her family members on their birthday. Rachael had a beautiful alto singing voice and sang at many functions including family gatherings, church and funerals. She was a member of the Rolla Methodist Church and also enjoyed working puzzles.

Rachael is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Glenda Lewis, Sondra Lewis, Patty Lewis, Juanita Lewis and Joyce Burris; brother-in-law, Billy Stewart; and friends too numerous to mention.

Rachael is preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Ione; husband, Bob; and siblings, Katherine, Donald, Elvin, Keith, Kenneth, Karen, Jack, Jerry, Larry and Susie.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Rolla Methodist Church with Cory Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Richfield Cemetery.
