Paul Hunter “Butch” Donovan Jr., 80, of Canyon, TX, formerly of Liberal, KS passed away on Wednesday November 1, 2023 at the BSA Hospital in Amarillo, TX.

He was born on July 26, 1943 to Paul H. Donovan Sr. and Elsie (King) Donovan at Great Bend, KS.

On September 5, 1981 he married Karen Woods at Las Vegas, NV. Paul and Karen lived in Liberal for many years, and moved to Canyon, Texas in January of 2023.

He graduated high school at Larned, KS. Paul worked as a Truck driver for many years working for National Carriers under Leiker Trucking, then Jimmie Rogers Inc. Butch and Karen owned and operated B & K Trucking. He finished his career as a driver for Duane Leiker Trucking. Butch was a member of VFW, a big racing fan of Sprint Cars and Nascar. He helped sponsor 11X sprint car. He was a huge fan of Michael Jordan. He also enjoyed watching KU basketball, K-State football, enjoyed woodworking and loved his dogs.

Butch is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Karen, Daughter, Sharla Rhea Osborn of Canyon, TX; Three Sons, Paul Hunter Donovan III and wife Lynn of Canon City, CO, Wade C Woods of Liberal, KS, Brett D Woods and wife Aundria of Liberal, KS, adopted son Hector Aranda and wife Cheryl of Arkansas; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and his beloved dog, Maggie D.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Granddaughter, Shannan Whetstone, Grandson, Colton Woods, grandson Trenton Gibson, Brother, Virgil Donovan, Son in-law, Gary Osborn, Nephew, Larry Donovan, Two beloved dogs, Ace and Boy.

There will be no public viewing.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, 2:00 pm at the Miller Mortuary Chapel, Liberal, Kansas, with Pastor Rex Petty, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Liberal City Cemetery.
