O.D. Young, age 75, died, June 13, 2026, at his home in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born September 24, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri to Tommy and Ileta “Bonnie” (Hollopeter) Young.

O.D. grew up in Ulysses, where his family moved when he was just two years old. He attended school in Ulysses and graduated from Grant County Rural High School. Following graduation, he furthered his education by attending mechanic school in Wichita, Kansas, where he developed the skills that would shape his lifelong career. He married Linda Grubbs on January 23, 1969, in Hugoton, Kansas. He proudly owned and operated Odor’s Garage and Truck Parts in Ulysses for 50 years where he became known for his mechanical knowledge and strong work ethic. Outside of mechanics, O.D. had a deep passion for fishing and hunting and treasured time spent outdoors. He also loved the excitement of tractor pulls and had built a hot rod tractor.

O.D. is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Nick Young and wife, Trina, of Hugoton, Kansas; daughter, Jenny Ibarra of Ulysses, Kansas; grandchildren, Colby Hagerman, Peighton Dennis and husband, Lakota, Davin Powers and wife, Trina; great-grandchildren, Paisley, Sayler, Iliana, Dredyn and Jakoby.

O.D. is preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Ileta Young; brother, Doug Young; sister, Joy Hampton; and son-in-law, Tony Ibarra.

Memorial service will be Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses, Kansas with Chaplain Gerry Dupuis officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton, Kansas. Memorials may be given to Northfork Tailgunners Pheasants Forever in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W.
