Nicholas James Hibbert, 28, died May 17, 2021. He was born on January 29, 1993 in Liberal, the son of Joe and Shelly (Vath) Hibbert.

Nick was a lifetime resident of southwest Kansas. He attended elementary school in Cimarron and then attended South Gray High in Montezuma, graduating with the class of 2011. While in high school, Nick participated in football, wrestling, weightlifting, and track.

After graduation, Nick continued his education at Kansas State University Polytechnic Campus in Salina. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in aviation and his pilot’s licenses both private and commercial. Nick served as a flight instructor for a year before returning to southwest Kansas. He flew for Lifeteam in Garden City and Crotts Aviation in Dodge City. Nick had recently gone to work with his family at Outlaw Irrigation in Cimarron.

Nick enjoyed flying, off roading, demolition derbies, gardening, and being a dare devil. His greatest joy was when his daughter, Arsyn, was born. He loved being a father and spending time with her. Nick had an infectious smile and was the life of the party. He loved to make others laugh. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. He was a loved father, brother, son and friend.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Ingalls and the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

Nick is survived by his daughter Arsyn Hibbert of Garden City; his parents, Joe and Shelly Hibbert of Cimarron; two brothers, Zach Hibbert and fiancé Shayla of Cimarron and Alex Hibbert and wife Kayla of Cimarron; a sister, Katy Burgess and husband Blake of Spearman, Texas; nieces and nephews, Aralyn, Zander, Kara, and Kaulder Hibbert, and Brady Burgess; grandparents, JoAnn B. Hibbert of Cimarron and Robert G. and E. Jane Vath of Cimarron; aunts and uncles, John Hibbert of Cimarron, Gay Andrade of Salina, Amy Mayo of Belton, Texas, Todd and Sara Nason of Manhattan, and Andy and Jackie Vath of Cimarron; and many great aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Neil J. Hibbert.

A book signing will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Cimarron on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Vigil service will be at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Ingalls on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Warren Stecklein presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron.
