Nancy Beatrice Ray

Nancy Beatrice Ray, 85, of Turpin, OK passed away on Wednesday June 24, 2020 at the Beaver County Nursing Home in Beaver, OK.

She was born on July 20, 1934 to Ervin and Ruth (Hunnicutt) Smith at Tucumcari, NM.

On August 16, 1969 she married Kermit “Pete” Ray in Guymon, OK; he preceded her in death on August 14, 2009.

Nancy was a graduate of Tucumcari High School; class of 1953. In November 1954 she enlisted into the US Navy where she served in Corpus Christi, TX and received an Honorable Discharge in 1957. She later moved to Liberal, KS where she worked as a Telephone Operator for Southwestern Bell. Nancy enjoyed visiting with everybody, watching westerns, was an avid reader, and a Poet.
She was active with the Turpin Senior Citizens Center and a member of the Turpin Baptist Church.

Nancy is survived by her Daughter, Regina Haskell and husband Barry of Kinsley, KS; Two Granddaughters, Courtney Schones and husband David of Ft. Worth, TX, Aspen Corpening of Scranton, KS; Grandson, Jeff Corpening and Fiancé Brittney Butler of Wilson, KS; Great-granddaughter, Hannah Schones; Great-grandson, Joseph Schones; several Nieces and Nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her Parents and Son, William P Gatlin.

There will be no public viewing as cremation has taken place.

Memorial Services will be 10:00 am Thursday, July 2, 2020, at the Turpin Baptist Church, with Pastor Dan Cox, officiating.
