Morris Turner

Morris Turner, age 83, of Keyes , Oklahoma died Monday, March 14, 2011 at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart , Kansas . He was born December 2, 1927 in Cimarron County , Oklahoma the son of Don and Ethel (Eversoll) Turner.

Morris was a lifelong resident of Texas County , Oklahoma attending Sandy Hook Country School . He married Theda McClung on March 10, 1946 in Clayton , New Mexico . Morris was a lifelong farmer and rancher. He enjoyed working with his cattle and horses, spending time with his family, and his morning and afternoon coffee breaks with friends. Morris was a member of the First Church of God in Elkhart .

Survivors include his wife, Theda of the home; daughter, Cherry Painter and husband Gary of Texas County, Oklahoma; brother, Leonard Turner of Elkhart, Kansas; five grandchildren, Dusty Turner and wife Amy of Plains, Kansas, Wendy Bailey and husband Grant of Tomball, Texas, Shana Bitner and husband Casey of Elkhart, Kansas, Craig Painter and wife Missy of Faith, South Dakota, Shonda Williams and husband Justin of Cleveland, Oklahoma; nine great-grandchildren, Ransen and Cashen Turner, Larkin Bailey, Derek Painter, Shyan Aylor, Aquilla and Dakota Painter, Railee and A’Lea Williams; special grandchild, Oliver Barco; and a host of other family and friends.

Morris is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Don Shannon Turner; brother, Richard Turner; and sister, Lennis Beck.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the First Church of God in Elkhart , Kansas with Pastor Gary Murrell and Pastor Tony Siebels officiating. There will be no public visitation. Inurnment will be at the Elkhart Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be given to the First Church of God Youth Group or donor’s choice in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854 , Elkhart , KS 67950 .
