Michael W. (Mike) McNemer, age 53, passed away early Sunday morning, March 28, 2021, at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita, Kansas.
He was born June 16, 1967, at Meade, Kansas, the son of George W. and Ann Frances (Gaskill) McNemer. As a young boy he attended school in Meade, graduating from Meade High School in 1985. After his graduation, he attended Seward County Community College, receiving training in criminal justice. A lifetime resident of Meade County, he was jailor for the Meade County Sheriffs Department.
He was a member of the Fowler Friends Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.
On September 21, 2005, he married Gillian Sura at Meade, Kansas. She survives.
Other survivors include his children, Sarah Sura of Ford, Kansas, Charles McNemer and Jacob McNemer, both of Fowler; and a sister, Donna Garner and husband Michael of rural Meade.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021, at the Fowler Friends Church. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Fowler Cemetery.
The family would welcome memorials to the Harry Hynes Hospice or the Meade County 4-H in care of the funeral home.
