Mayola Fern Jones, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2023, at the Satanta Long Term Care Unit. She was born on July 4, 1926, in Boise City, Oklahoma to Henry Alfred Stephenson and Mary Rosella Thompson Stephenson. Mayola leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Mayola dedicated several years of her life to educating young minds as a school teacher. She also shared a fulfilling partnership with her husband Orval, as they owned and operated the Farm service and supply store in Sublette, Kansas. Her passion for education was evident throughout her life.

Mayola earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Oklahoma Panhandle State in Goodwell, Oklahoma. Her commitment to learning extended beyond her career, as she continuously sought knowledge and encouraged those around her to do the same.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Mayola was an active member of the Pheasant Prairie Church of God in Satanta. Her involvement with the church family brought her immense joy, and she exemplified the values of faith and community through her actions. Mayola’s dedication extended beyond church activities as well; she was a member of various organizations including the American Legion, 8 and 40 Club, Sunshine Club, and Do Nothing Club in Satanta. She especially enjoyed traveling with her friends from the Do Nothing Club.

One of Mayola’s proudest accomplishments was creating a loving home for her family. She treasured moments spent with loved ones and eagerly welcomed them into her life. Mayola’s unconditional love knew no bounds when it came to her family.

Mayola leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of numerous individuals who were fortunate enough to have known her. She is survived by her sons: Dr. Randy Jones and his wife Rose from Colorado Springs, CO; James Jones and his wife Rhonda from Ulysses, KS. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Each generation has been touched by her love and will continue to carry her light forward.

Mayola was predeceased by her loving husband Orval James, her daughter Brenda Sue Hockett, and her brothers Max and George Stephenson. While she will be dearly missed by all who knew her, her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.

The visitation for Mayola Fern Jones will be held on December 19, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Robson Funeral Home in Satanta. The funeral service will take place on December 20, 2023, at 10:30 AM at the Pleasant Prairie Church Of God in Satanta. Following the service, Mayola will be laid to rest at Dudley Township Cemetery in Satanta at 2:00 PM.

In honor of Mayola’s life and her legacy of love and kindness, donations can be made to the Pheasant Prairie Church of God or the American Legion in Satanta.

Mayola Fern Jones touched countless lives with her generosity, warmth, and unwavering love. She leaves behind a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that she has left a lasting imprint on this world and that her spirit will always live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Memorials have been established for Pheasant Prairie Church of God, Satanta, in care of Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 747, Satanta, KS 67870.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 10:30 A.M. at Pheasant Prairie Church of God, rural Satanta. Burial will follow at Dudley Township Cemetery, Satanta.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 19, 2022023,3 from 12 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Robson Funeral Home, Satanta. The family will receive family and friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Robson Funeral Home, Satanta.
