Mary Wright

Mary Lou Wright, age 79, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita , Kansas . She was born January 26, 1932 in Stanton County , Kansas , the daughter of Alferd and Olive ( Downs ) Bullock.

Mary was a lifelong resident of Stanton County and graduated from Manter High School . She attended Ft. Hays State University for a short time. On September 9, 1950 she married Gayl Wright in Raton New Mexico . Mary was a homemaker and involved with 4-H, serving as a sewing leader. She was also a member of Busy Homemakers EHU, Manter UMC and also taught kindergarten Sunday school. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and flowers, little children, and helping at church. One of Mary’s greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Phillip Wright of Johnson, Kansas; daughter, Olinda Harbaugh of Derby, Kansas; five brothers, Milan Bullock of Skillman, New Jersey, Kenneth Bullock of Temple, Texas, Gail Bullock of Houston, Texas, Linn Bullock of Smithfield, Texas, Lee Bullock of Westen, Colorado; sister, Alice Bullock of Wenatchee, Washington; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gayl on November 24, 2010; son, Curtis G. Wright in 1975; and sister, Eula Goodman on February 15, 2011.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Manter , Kansas with Pastor Will Kenyon officiating. Interment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson , Kansas . There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be given to the United Methodist Church in Manter or Donor’s choice in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 715 , Johnson , Kansas 67855 .
